Evidence from the engagement, not a scoreboard
These accounts describe specific audits, reviews, and procedures. Names appear with permission; some titles are shortened where confidentiality required it.
“Their team arrived with a materiality memo already drafted and left us a short list of open items each evening. We still had to chase two bank confirmations ourselves, but the draft report landed three days before the board pack deadline.”Keiko M., CFO, regional manufacturing group · Statutory financial statement audit
“We needed agreed-upon procedures for a lender covenant, not another full audit. Shizuku wrote the procedure list with the bank’s counsel and delivered factual findings without padding the file.”Tomoya S., Treasurer, logistics company · Agreed-upon procedures
“First-year audit after changing firms felt heavier than we hoped—opening balances took longer than the proposal suggested. Once those cleared, the year-end fieldwork was orderly, and the management letter on payment approvals was fair.”Rina K., Controller, food wholesale · Opening balance & first-year audit
“Half-year review gave our parent company in Osaka the limited assurance they asked for without pulling the whole finance team into a second full audit cycle.”Masato H., Finance director, consumer goods subsidiary · Interim review

Inventory counts across three warehouses
A mid-sized metals fabricator near Yonago held raw materials at two owned sites and finished goods at a third-party warehouse. Prior auditors had rolled forward counts without observing the third site. For the statutory audit, we required observation on all three locations on consecutive days, with roll-forward testing for movements between count and year-end.
The controller worried the schedule would collide with a major shipment. We moved one observation window by forty-eight hours, documented the cut-off with shipping logs, and still completed substantive testing before the planned clearance meeting. The auditor’s report was unmodified; the management letter asked for earlier booking of warehouse fee accruals—an item management corrected in the following quarter.

Grant schedule procedures for a municipal partner
A construction supplier receiving prefectural grant funds needed factual findings on eligible expenditure—not an opinion on the full financial statements. We agreed a procedure list with the grant office: vouch a sample of invoices to bank payments, recalculate overhead allocation per the grant rules, and report exceptions without recommending remediation.
Two invoices in the sample lacked dual approval signatures required by the grant handbook. Those exceptions appeared in the findings report; the client remediated before the next drawdown. The engagement stayed within the quoted fee because the procedure list did not grow midstream.
